Our Family Groups bring together children from across the school, from our youngest pupils through to our oldest. Each group is supported by a familiar adult and provides opportunities for children of different ages to learn, worship, reflect and work together.
Family Groups are an important way in which we live out our Christian vision and values. They encourage our children to be strong and courageous, to care for one another and to recognise that everyone has something valuable to contribute to our school family.
Why do we have Family Groups?
Through our Family Groups, we aim to:
strengthen the sense of belonging and community across our whole school;
help children build positive relationships beyond their own class and friendship groups;
encourage older children to support, nurture and lead younger pupils;
develop confidence, responsibility, compassion and respect;
provide opportunities for prayer, reflection and spiritual development;
explore our Christian values and consider how we can put them into action;
give every child opportunities to contribute, share their voice and make a difference;
strengthen relationships between our children, staff, families, church and wider community.
Faith in Action
Family Groups give our children opportunities to explore what our Christian values look like in everyday life.
Children may work together through Collective Worship, prayer, creative activities, discussion, reflection, acts of service and whole-school projects. These experiences encourage children not simply to learn about our values, but to consider how they can live them out through their choices and actions.
Our older children have an important role within Family Groups. They are encouraged to model kindness, responsibility and leadership, supporting younger pupils and helping everyone to feel that they belong.
Family Group Activities
Throughout the year, Family Groups come together in a variety of ways. These may include:

opportunities for reflection and spirituality

charitable and social-action projects
environmental and justice-focused activities
sporting and team challenges
celebrations and special events
opportunities to work alongside parents, families and members of St Peter’s Church.
Our Wider School Family
We believe that our school family reaches beyond the children and staff within our building.
Parents, carers, members of St Peter’s Church and our wider community are welcomed into Family Group events throughout the year. These shared experiences strengthen the relationships between school, home and church and remind our children that they are part of a community in which everyone is valued.
Family Group activities also provide opportunities for our children to think beyond themselves — considering how they can care for others, look after God’s world and bring about positive change within their local and wider community.
