The children at Ireleth St Peter’s CofE Primary School (ISP) are taught in mixed age classes. As with all village schools, pupil numbers tend to fluctuate yearly therefore class structure and long term curriculum planning is reviewed regularly
For 2022-2023, the school is currently organised into three classes.
Dolphin Class EYFS & Year 1 Miss Wright and Mrs Casey full-time.
Mrs Britton supports every morning and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons.
Whale Class Year 2 & 3 Mrs Kidson full time.
Miss Wright – Wednesday afternoon, Thursday and Friday all day
Miss Morrison supports every morning.
Shark Class Year 4, 5 & 6 Mrs Saunders – Monday, Tuesday.
Miss Jackson – Wednesday, Thursday and Friday all day.
Mrs Alexander and Miss Shaw support throughout the week.
Onside Sports deliver our PE alongside sessions to each class.
At ISP, we broadly follow the National Curriculum, although we make explicit links to our local area, children’s own interests and to the global issues. We ensure that throughout the year, our pupils receive a wide range of rich and varied experiences to enhance the curriculum and their learning. This ranges from events such as
Formal assessment takes place every half term (6 times a year) which assists planning and ensures pupils are aware of their next steps in order to make further progress. All pupils have individual targets in Maths and English; they also have a personal target. Systems and processes for SEND are effective and ensure that ISP is an inclusive school. As a result of our rich and varied curriculum, nurturing and supportive environment and high expectations, our pupils at ISP make good progress from starting points. Our vision and ethos is deeply embedded and ISP is one big family; a successful family with growing pupil numbers. Pupils feel safe, happy and enjoy learning. The balance between the need to support acadmic progress and the need to ensure a positive mental health and wellbeing works well
